Fr Orobator on Saving our Common Home

  • 7 October 2021
Jesuit Missions hosted a webinar with President of the Jesuit Conference in Africa and Madagascar to discuss climate change.

Fr Orobator SJ, joined Jesuit Missions’ webinar for his talk, ‘How the world will come to an end’ – or how we can save ourselves and Our Common Home

‘How the world will come to an end’, the first part of the thought-provoking title might seem outlandish, but it highlights the severity of the biggest threat to all of our lives, climate change.

However, the second part of his title sums up the positive theme of his talk; “how we can save ourselves and Our Common Home”. Fr Orobator spoke about the need for a Christian response to the climate crisis and how faith can play a part in the healing process of the earth’s environment.

Fr Orabator commented that “we need the capacity to see the agony of the earth as the flip side of the anguish of humanity”. He argued that this approach to integral ecology is vital if we are to make a difference and that “the church has a vital role to play in this task of climate justice”.
