Chad receives thousands of refugees every day from across the border in Sudan.
Jesuit Missions helps to support Sudanese refugees who have fled to Chad from Sudan and other neighbouring countries. We support an education program with particular focus on women and children, supporting children through the difficult transition of adapting to a new curriculum. We are working with local communities to prevent tensions developing between the host nation and the refugees. One of the main difficulties for refugees is learning a new language.
Jesuit Missions is also supporting a tertiary education program, giving young people the skills they may need to get employment.
