Jesuit Missions is a member of the Xavier Network along with twelve other Jesuit organisations from across Europe, Canada and Australia, working together in over eighty-seven countries worldwide. This international mission and development partnership was set up with the principle that “together we can do more”. By sharing the same fundamental understanding of solidarity, justice and faith tradition, the partnership enables an increase in the impact of our activities on behalf of vulnerable people in the most marginalised communities, especially during emergencies.
Three years ago, during the Nepal earthquake Xavier Network responded immediately to the disaster working with local partner the Nepal Jesuit Social Institute (NJSI) to distribute humanitarian aid to more than 7000 families. The partnership has continued during the reconstruction and development phase which started last year and more recently with the building of fourteen community centres. You can read more here.
Similarly, in Haiti, eighteen months after the devastation caused by Hurricane Matthew the Xavier Network continues to support long term rehabilitation with a special focus on education. You can read more here.
By visiting the website, you can find updates from all the members, including Jesuit Missions, as well as see the work that is being done by all the organisations collaboratively.
The Xavier Network takes its name and inspiration from St Francis Xavier, the founder of the Society of Jesus.
