Plans to hand in memory cards in honour of the late Jesuit priest Fr Stan Swamy to the Indian High Commission in London have been put on hold in light of the death of Pope Francis.
Jesuit Missions had intended to deliver the cards dedicated to Fr Stan on Friday (April 25), the day before what would have been his 88th birthday.
However, as a mark of respect for the mourning period for Pope Francis, who died on Monday (April 21) and whose funeral will be held on Saturday (April 26), the event has been postponed.
The card hand-in forms part of a campaign supported by Jesuit Missions, which seeks to clear Fr Stan’s name, after he died in custody in July 2021, aged 84.
Jesuit Missions invites supporters to continue to send in cards in memory of Fr Stan – full information can be found here.
A new date for the hand-in event will be announced in due course.
