Jesuit Missions has appointed Jonathan Heard as its new Director.
Jonathan, who worked as Deputy Director of International Programmes at the UK arm of Catholic maritime charity Stella Maris, replaces Paul Chitnis, who is stepping down after 14 years of service.
In his role at Stella Maris’s UK International Development Programme, Jonathan supported overseas branches, enhancing their capacity in fundraising, marketing, governance and in training of chaplains and volunteers for the mission supporting seafarers, fishers, and their families in the UK and around the world
He will take over at Jesuit Missions in the second week of May.
Stephen Power SJ, Chairman of the Jesuit Missions’ Management Board, said: “We think Jonathan’s experience, commitment, and global perspective make him ideally placed to lead the organisation into its next chapter.”
He paid tribute to Paul’s efforts at Jesuit Missions, noting that he has “guided it through significant developments in its mission at home and abroad”.
“We are immensely grateful to Paul for his long years of service in this role, both the times in the office, connecting with our works in Britain and the visits to our partners around the world, often in challenging environments,” Stephen added.
