The tragic conflict in the Middle East is now affecting Lebanon.
At present, the UN reports that more than 1.2 million people have been displaced. Lebanon’s Health Ministry says more than 2,000 people have been killed including over 127 children and 261 women.
Thousands of families have fled their homes with many seeking refuge in over 390 temporary facilities such as schools.
Jesuit Missions has supported work in the country for several years. Our Jesuit partners on the ground are already responding by distributing basic hygiene items, mattresses and food in the shelters located in safer regions.
Working in solidarity with other Jesuit mission and development organisations in the Xavier Network, Jesuit Missions is responding to those affected by the unfolding humanitarian crisis.

Please pray for a ceasefire in the Middle East and a just and peaceful outcome to this devastating conflict.
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
O divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek
to be consoled as to console,
to be understood as to understand,
to be loved as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive,
it is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.
Amen.
