A series of powerful earthquakes struck Venezuela on Wednesday (24 June), causing widespread destruction across affected communities and leaving thousands of people in urgent need of assistance.
Homes, schools, health facilities, and critical infrastructure have been damaged or destroyed, forcing families to flee their homes and seek safety under difficult conditions. As rescue and assessment efforts continue, the full scale of the disaster is still emerging.
In the wake of this tragedy, countless people are facing uncertainty and loss. Livelihoods have been disrupted, and entire communities are struggling to recover from the shock of a disaster that has changed lives in a matter of moments.
Please join us in praying for the those impacted by the earthquakes, the people of Venezuela and all those working on a response, including Jesuits based there.
We will provide more information around further action from Jesuit Missions, and our involvement with the Xavier Network, in due course.
