Jesuit organisations across the world will come together for a special prayer vigil in honour of those affected by the recent earthquakes in Venezuela.
The service, which will be hosted online, takes place on Friday (24 July) at 2pm UK time. Those joining from elsewhere can work out their start time here.
It will feature contributions from the Provincial of Venezuela and Jesuit groups responding to the situation on the ground. There will also be testimonies from those impacted by the disaster, as well as prayers, readings and music.
The vigil will be broadcast in Spanish, though there will be simultaneous translations in English and French available.
Fr Daniel Villanueva SJ, General Coordinator of Fe y Alegria, said: “This vigil has been prepared as a moment of prayer and spiritual accompaniment, bringing together the Society [of Jesus], our partners, and friends from around the world in solidarity with the people of Venezuela and all those responding to this crisis.
“Beyond fundraising and operational support, moments like this remind us that we are one apostolic body, accompanying one another not only through our work but also through prayer.
“We hope this vigil can become a shared expression of that communion and a tangible sign of closeness to the Jesuit Province of Venezuela and to all those whose lives have been affected by this tragedy.”
