Daily reflections, interviews and news summaries from the UN’s Climate Change Conference in Bonn will be available on the Jesuit Missions’ website during the talks.
Those from the Jesuits for Climate Justice campaign who are attending the conference, which started yesterday (Monday, 16 June) and runs until 26 June, will provide insight in the form of short articles, pictures and video.
The Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES) in Rome will compile brief summaries each day, outlining the key talking points from across the conference.
Jesuit groups are taking part in these key talks in Germany – which are seen as a halfway point leading up to COP30 later this year – as part of the Society’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness of and finding solutions to climate change.
Jesuit Missions’ Campaigns and Advocacy Officer, Richard Solly, and Jesuit academic Cristóbal Emilfork are present for the entirety of the conference.
They will be joined by Filipe Martins SJ and Colm Fahy from the Jesuit European Social Centre for the second week of activities, while climate activist Jörg Alt will provide further input at various points, including speaking at a designated Jesuit side event on June 24.
Fr Roberto Jaramillo SJ and Daniela Alba from the SJES will regularly participate online, having secured virtual invites to the conference.
