Delegates from across the world are once again gathering in Bonn, Germany, to discuss key climate issues in the run-up to COP later this year.

The 64th gathering of the Subsidiary Bodies (SB64) follows on from COP30 in Brazil, where the Society of Jesus was keenly involved, and is seen as an important step in the journey to COP31, which will be held in Turkey in November.

Running until 18 June, it also looks to build on discussions held at the first conference on the Transition Away from Fossil Fuels, which took place in Santa Marta, Colombia, in April.

Jesuits representatives will once again be present, and the Society’s Social Justice and Ecology Secretariat (SJES), which is based in Rome, has produced resources to help supporters engage with the summit.

This includes a daily prayer guide and regular social media updates. Once the conference draws to a close, it will report on what – if anything – was agreed and how this will affect preparations for COP31.

Key subjects expected to be discussed include climate finance and adaptation, implementation plans and the transition towards cleaner energy.

You can access the SJES’s prayer guide below, and keep an eye on its, and Jesuit Missions’, website and social media channels for more information.
